Tips for Staying Active at Any Age

Many people find that with age, exercise becomes more difficult. We often find ourselves facing decreased energy, increased pain and very little time to devote to physical activity. However, there are plenty of factors we have control over that can make exercise easier and more feasible. Take a look at some of the tips below for staying active at any age!

Participate in Active Activities

This could be yard work, house work or extracurricular activities that get you up and moving. If you have an opportunity to get off the couch and do something different, do it!

Exercise Multiple Times Per Week

This doesn’t have to be exercise that takes up an hour of your time each and every day. Even 20-30 minutes a few days a week can have a significant impact.

Engage in Diverse Exercise

Don’t be afraid to switch things up! Maybe you go swimming one day and power-walking the next. Think outside the box and also consider exercises like hiking, recreational sports, dancing and Yoga. It all counts — as long as you stay moving!

Eat Healthy, Well-balanced Meals

You will feel your best physically if you devote time and energy into good nutrition. Try to eat as many lean, healthy and whole foods as possible, but remember — everything in moderation.

Lean on Others

You are more likely to stay physically active if you engage in exercise with other people. This may be reason enough to take a group fitness class or get active with your friends and family.
