Google Releases 2019’s Top Trending Weight and Health Topics

Google releases 2019 top trending health topics

At the end of each year, Google releases a detailed report – “Google’s Year in Search” – of its top-trending searches, news and more to recap the last twelve months of the year. 2019’s report came out in early-December.

The findings tell us a lot about what topics captured internet users the most, and they especially help us dig deeper into popular questions about health and weight management.

America’s Top Health Questions

Nearly all of us are guilty of asking Google a question about our body. After all, it’s quicker and cheaper than a visit to the doctor’s office. Here are just a few of the top questions America asked when it visited the popular search engine this year:

  • How do I lower my blood pressure?
  • What is keto?
  • What causes kidney stones?
  • How do I lower my cholesterol?
  • How many calories should I eat a day?

These are very basic questions in essence, but they are proof that confusion still exists about the best way to lose weight and manage health. Health conditions such as high blood pressure, kidney stones and high cholesterol are also related to overweight and obesity in many circumstances.

Google’s Top Diet Trends

The search engine also reported on all things trending in 2019, from famous people to movies, world events and even outfit styles. Of course, the list wouldn’t be complete without the top diets that trended this past year, especially since an estimated 45 million Americans go on a diet each year.

  • Intermittent fasting diet
  • Dr. Sebi diet
  • Noom diet
  • 1200 calories diet
  • Golo diet
  • Dubrow diet
  • Sirtfood diet
  • No Carbs No Sugar diet
  • Endomorph diet
  • Jlo diet

What We Can Learn from 2019’s Trending Health Topics

The Struggle is Real

This information gives us a glimpse into what people are wondering about their bodies. They also make a lot of sense, as nearly 2/3 of Americans struggle with their weight and spend approximately $33 billion each year on weight-loss products and services. So here’s the bottom line – if this many people are struggling to manage their weight and are looking for answers, and are searching Google for insight about improving their health, weight-loss isn’t as easy as many people claim it is. If it was as simple as “Eat less, move more,” we wouldn’t be seeing these trending searches. The challenge of weight-loss is made especially difficult by the vast amount of different information out there.
