Spring Cleaning for Your Weight and Health this March

spring, spring cleaning

After months of cold weather and cozy nights snuggled up inside, spring has finally arrived! The flowers are blooming, the sun is shining and new beginnings are on the horizon. It’s a time to start fresh in all areas of your life – including your weight and health!

The Benefits of Starting Fresh

There are many moments in life where you may wish for a “do-over” button. Maybe it’s a project at school or work, or a conversation you had with someone important. The fact of the matter is that no matter how hard we try at something, it’s always easy to slide off-track at times. And when that happens, having a “do-over” button can come in handy.

A few months have passed since the New Year began, and maybe you’ve veered from your weight and health goals. Are you eating the way you set out to eat? Are you accomplishing all the physical activity you set out to accomplish? Do you feel like you’re taking definitive steps forward on your weight management journey?

If the answer is no, this is where starting fresh can really be of benefit. Or, if you’re just looking to shake things up and begin a new change of pace, this is also the perfect time! A little spring cleaning for your weight and health can help you take the next positive step.

Spring Cleaning for Your Weight and Health: A How-to List

What does that mean… spring cleaning for your weight and health? Out with the old and in with the new! Here a few things you can do for your weight management journey to start fresh:

  • Clean Out Your Kitchen – Out with the processed, expired and boring foods you don’t want to eat. Stock up your fridge and pantry with lots of produce, whole grains, lean proteins and wholesome, tasty items.
  • Re-assess Your Workout Routine – Perhaps it’s time to pick up the pace, choose a new activity, change your location or revisit your workout goals. Start thinking about what will help you reach a new level of fitness.
  • Visit Your Healthcare Provider – It may be time for a check-up! Consider scheduling an appointment with your healthcare provider to evaluate your weight, overall health and level of progress.
  • Buy Some New Clothes – From everyday wear to workout attire, a change of wardrobe can keep things fresh and motivating. You don’t have to buy a new closet; just select a couple of items to add to it!
  • Take a Vacation – Are you physically and mentally drained? Now might be an appropriate time to take a step back and go on a vacation. It’s doesn’t have to be a week-long trip to Europe; a simple weekend getaway might do the trick!
  • De-clutter and Deep-clean Your House – This piece of advice is more along the lines of the traditional spring cleaning you’re familiar with. But it can also help you with your weight and health by promoting mental clarity!

The onset of spring is an excellent time to hit “refresh” on your weight management journey. Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty and adjust your diet, workout routine and everyday lifestyle! Sometimes a few exciting changes can make a world of difference.
