Fall Weather is Arriving… Try these Fun Outdoor Activities and Get Active!

Try these outdoor activities in the fall weather

The onset of fall weather makes October a particularly special time of year. Crisp autumn winds bring leaves to the ground and temperatures are cooling enough to relax outdoors. It’s the perfect season to spice things up by making a change to your daily routine.

Why not start with physical activity? Gone are the days where sweltering heat keeps you locked indoors. This fall, embrace the cooler, crisper weather and get active outdoors for your health.

Fall Weather Activities

What are some fun, creative ways you can get some steps in? Try these:

Go for a Hike

There’s nothing prettier than nature in autumn. Grab a few loved ones and hit the hiking trails! Look for pine cones, acorns and interesting leaves. Enjoy being able to walk without breaking a terrible heat-driven sweat. Hiking is a great way to burn calories and relieve stress.

Gather Some Firewood

Do you have a fire pit? You can finally put it to good use. Encourage your kids to help you look for kindling and firewood to start a fire. Instead of making s’mores, roast veggie skewers and fruit chips. Spend some time with your loved ones around the bonfire.

Find a Marathon to Participate in

Plenty of seasonal marathons and races pop-up this time of year. Examples include a turkey trot or pumpkin run. Sign-up for one of these events and don’t sweat about being fast or out of shape. Even walking them can be fun and festive!

Tend to the House

You’ve heard of spring cleaning, but why not fall? Use this season to detox your home and give it a fresh spin. Plant some new crops in your garden. Rake the leaves and clean-out your gutters. Try some landscaping or home repairs you couldn’t get to in the summer.

Enjoy Seasonal Sports

You don’t have to be a pro, but get moving with some fun outdoor sports. Football, ice skating, hockey and tennis are all excellent ways to take advantage of the cool weather.

No matter what activities you try, just remember to get outside and get active! Don’t let the cooler weather and stress from the upcoming holiday season get you down. Now is an excellent time to take advantage of these end-of-the-year months and squeeze in that extra movement.
